Disaster Relief FundThe Wings Foundation is the sole proprietor of the Flight Attendant Disaster Relief Fund (FADRF). The Fund was established in 1991, in the aftermath of a series of natural disasters that struck in areas where American Airlines Flight Attendants lived & worked. Wings FADRF provides immediate short-term relief to AA Flight Attendants whose primary residence is damaged or destroyed by a catastrophic event or natural disaster. The program may provide for the purchase of such essentials as food, water & temporary shelter. Funds are raised primarily through the Wings Recycling Program. This voluntary program relies on AA Flight Attendants to collect aluminum cans on board all American Airlines flights. In 2004, the FADRF distributed $38,000 in direct response to the California fires & numerous hurricanes across Florida. In 2005, over $97,000 in assistance was distributed to AA Flight Attendants who were directly affected by the devestation of hurricane Katrina along the US Gulf Coast. The Wings Foundation is grateful for the recycling cooperation & assistance of "LSG Sky Chefs" & "Gate Gourmet", as well as the many American Airlines Flight Attendants who participate daily, in the Recycling Program. Thank You! |
